(Optional): Setup Shortcuts for GetRec & Streaming

Setup desktop shortcuts that loads you directly into your streaming / GetRec profile.

This step is optional, but it would make your life easier in the long run. And it reduces the likelihood of mistakes.

  1. Open File Explorer and go to This PC > Local Disk (C:) > Program Files > obs-studio > bin > 64bit and find obs64 or OBS (it’s the file with the icon).
If you can’t find the OBS folder in C: > Program Files, other possible locations are:
    · C: > Program Files (x86) > obs-studio, and
    · C: > Program Files (x86) > OBS

  2. Right click on obs64 or OBS and select Show more options.

  3. Select Create shortcut.

  4. An OBS shortcut should be created on your desktop.

  5. Right click on the desktop shortcut and select Properties.

  6. Select Target and enter the following value:
    "C:\…\…\obs64.exe" --profile "GetRec"
    · Replace GetRec with the name of the profile you created in Step 1 > 1.
    · You probably only need to add the part after "C:\…\…\obs64.exe" but do include the spaces

  7. Rename the desktop shortcut.

  8. Launch OBS Studio from the shortcut you’ve just created, and it should load your GetRec profile automatically.

  9. (Optional) Repeat steps 1 – 7 to create a desktop shortcut for your streaming profile.
    • This also applies for having different profiles for different streaming platforms.

(Optional): Change the Icon for the GetRec Shortcut

Example of separate shortcuts with different icons.

  1. Download this icon file: camera.ico

  2. Right click on the shortcut you have created for GetRec and select Properties.

  3. Select Change Icon.

  4. Select Browse.

  5. Find the camera.ico file that you’ve downloaded earlier, and select Open.

  6. Click OK.
